Professional Membership
Becoming a member of the Aspire Institute of People Learning and Development (AIPLD) is a mark of distinction in the Learning and Development (L&D) profession. It confirms your commitment to the highest standards in training, coaching, and professional development - both for yourself and those you support.
Our membership process is clear, straightforward, and time-efficient, while maintaining the rigour required to uphold our reputation for excellence.
Membership is open to individuals across all sectors who can demonstrate proven competence, capability, and experience in their profession - whether employed, self-employed, or operating as an independent consultant.
We offer three prestigious membership levels, each with the right to use post-nominal letters and progress as your skills and achievements grow:

Associate (AAIPLD) - for emerging professionals establishing their expertise.

Member (MAIPLD) - for experienced practitioners with a proven track record in L&D.

Fellow (FAIPLD) - for senior leaders and recognised experts in the field.
Every new member receives a unique membership number which remains with them throughout their AIPLD journey, serving as their official reference in all communications with us.

Membership Fees
Membership is ideal for professionals at any stage of their journey with AIPLD, demonstrating commitment to high standards in Learning and Development.
Annual Fee: £105.00 (+VAT*)
One-Off Administration Fee: £49.00 (+VAT*) – payable at the time of joining
Your annual fee secures your place within the AIPLD professional network, giving you access to member benefits, post-nominal letters, and recognition as an AIPLD Member.
The one-off administration fee covers the processing of your application, verification of your credentials, and allocation of your unique membership number.

Membership Tiers
We recognise the unique challenges faced when you are new to the Learning and Development (L&D) profession. The Associate Membership has been created specifically for early-career professionals, junior L&D practitioners, and those beginning their journey as trainers, facilitators, or coaches.
This level is ideal if you have less than two years’ experience in the industry and are:

Launching your own training or coaching business

Building skills after completing a Train the Trainer or equivalent qualification

Working as an assistant or junior in an L&D environment

Transitioning into L&D from another profession
As an Associate Member, you will be required to demonstrate your foundational knowledge in Learning and Development. In return, you’ll earn the right to use the AAIPLD post-nominal letters, signalling to employers, clients, and peers that you have the knowledge base required and are actively building the practical experience to progress in your career.
This membership provides credibility, recognition, and professional status while you continue to grow your skills and experience in the L&D sector.
The Member level is designed for established Learning and Development (L&D) professionals who have progressed beyond entry-level and are ready to showcase their expertise and leadership within the field.
This membership tier is ideal for individuals with:

Over three years’ experience in L&D

A supervisory, team leader, or management role within training, coaching, or organisational development

A proven track record of designing, delivering, or managing impactful learning programmes
Becoming an MAIPLD not only recognises your professional competence and leadership experience, but also positions you for opportunities at a more senior level within the industry. It signals to employers, peers, and clients that you have navigated both successes and challenges in your L&D career, and that you bring strategic value to your organisation or business.
As a Member, you will be joining a community of recognised L&D professionals committed to driving excellence in learning, training, and people development worldwide.
The Fellow level is the highest tier of AIPLD membership, reserved for highly experienced Learning and Development (L&D) leaders who operate at a strategic level and influence the direction of learning within their organisation or the wider industry.
As a Fellow, you are expected to:

Hold significant management or executive responsibility in L&D

Support the career progression and professional development of others

Demonstrate a consistent track record of strategic leadership and innovation in learning and training

Actively share your experience, insights, and expertise with peers and the wider AIPLD community
